This resort offers 290 guestrooms in 11 low-rise buildings set around a beachfront pool and on a hillside. Buildings don't have elevators—guests reach all rooms via outside stairways of no more than two levels. Most rooms have balconies or patios furnished with chairs and cocktail tables. Decor features marble entryways, carpeted bedrooms, rattan furniture, cream-colored walls, and white ceilings. Marble-tiled bathrooms have tub/shower combinations, hair dryers, and bathrobes. What to expect: An open-air, marble-tiled, two-story lobby frames a postcard view of the bay. Occupying 34 acres of lawns, palm trees, and flowering gardens flanked by rugged green hills, the resort provides a grand, tropical-vacation setting. Guests include families seeking multiple activities and couples who enjoy the resort's tranquil, relaxing ambience. Amenity highlights: Guests bask in lounge chairs on a 1,000-foot sandy crescent of beach sloping gently into Caribbean waters. One large swimming pool and 12-person rock-grotto spa tub are adjacent to the beach. The other pool, also large, is located inland among palm trees. Its terra-cotta sundeck provides secluded sunbathing. Both pools have children's swimming sections. Insider tip: Coral World marine park is a popular St. Thomas attraction featuring Caribbean marine life exhibits and demonstrations. Guests enjoy aquarium views of seahorses, stingrays, sharks, and other creatures, as well as a touch tank. The park is a half-mile from the hotel.

The hotel encompasses eleven two-story buildings arrayed around a beachfront pool and six four-story buildings terraced on a hillside. Building style is a blend of tropical and Art Deco, with round columns, blue-canvas balcony fronts, dramatically sloping tan roofs, and cream-colored masonry. Complimentary shuttles transport guests to hillside rooms. The hotel's full-service health spa includes men's and women's saunas and steam rooms and two rooms for massage, facials, and body treatments (fees). A garden courtyard with cushioned loveseat swings provides a quiet place to rest before and after treatments.
